Chelsea Meadow is about creating beauty whilst being eco-friendly. It is about creating beauty using that which already exists. Upcycling, finding purpose in things deemed no good. Things found in the rubbish.

My creations come in various forms - most recognised are my textile animal sculptures.

I have lived in the UK for most of my life and have been lucky enough to have grown up in a low income household. I say lucky because I was taught to appreciate what I have, and that money and materialism is not everything.

I have always loved nature, it is my greatest inspiration. It gives us all that we need and can also teach us more than we realise. In my eyes, nature is something to be respected; and before I get too deep - we are part of nature, we should show ourselves respect.

This is where my drive to create only things that are eco-friendly comes into play. I don't want to waste resources or use toxic plastics, even in the name of art.

In 2013 I lived in Rome for nine months. I went as part of my degree to undertake a work placement with The English Theatre of Rome. You can view my blog here: International Placement at The English Theatre (chelseameadow.blogspot.com) I lived on very little money and when I wasn't working, I spent most of my time on my own. Going back to basics was liberating. I was living in one of the most desired holiday destinations in Europe and I was more content residing in the beautiful park Villa Doria Pamphilj. I could not afford processed foods or snacks - but I could afford fresh local vegetables and wholesome food.
